Vitrum is latin for glass, and the word was first recorded in the 1st century BCE. This beautiful blue specimen of ancient roman glass is likely around 2000 years old, with origins possibly from Israel, which was a main centre for roman glassworks. It has developed a gorgeous white patina over the centuries from mineral deposits. I have set it with a sterling topper with scribbled patina finish. The rolo sterling chain has also been patinated and features one additional roman glass bead, and several small labradorite ones as well. The overal length of this piece is about 18.5".
